Despite the competitive nature of the Triumph Hurdle, Derham believes the horse deserves his opportunity to run at the Cheltenham Festival.
Speaking ahead of the race on his site this morning, the trainer said:
“He’s been absolutely brilliant for us all season and deserves his chance in this.”
Derham acknowledged the challenge of competing at the Festival but remains hopeful the horse can run well.
“We’re under no illusions of the task today and he’s likely going to get out classed here but he’s in good nick and hopefully he can run a nice race and give his owners a great thrill.”
